Bali Crime Rates – Bali Police Increase Patrols As Crime Rates Rise In Tourist Resort Kuta.

Leaders in Bali’s Kuta Resort have met to discuss rising concerns that security is worsening in the area.

Kuta is one of Bali’s oldest and most famous beachfront resorts, but in recent years, reports of crime have started to make headlines more frequently.

The Denpasar Police Chief, Police Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Simatupang, called a major stakeholder and community meeting on Wednesday, 14th May, to bring together individuals and organisations concerned about the rising levels of crime in the Kuta tourism resort area.

Attendees included Bali Police Officers, Pecalang from Kuta Traditional Village, and representatives from Bakamda, Linmas, and Kelian Dinas. Increasingly reported crimes include break-ins, muggings, and traffic violations.

The Head of the Kuta Traditional Village, Ngurah Alit Ardana, told the meeting, “Our area is guarded by 150 self-initiative security members. They routinely maintain the security of the area. The Kuta area, which is an international tourist destination, should be a special concern for security.

He called for more support from Bali Police to help manage security in the area, noting that a collaborative effort is needed to help safeguard the resort and that local traditional security teams, known as pecalang, need more assistance from the law.

Ardana highlighted the limited availability of personnel from Kuta Police as one potential source of the increasing crime rates in the resort. Ardana also shared that he regularly records many police stations in Kuta without officers available or even on duty.

Ardana also discussed illegal and dangerous driving in Kuta, which poses a risk to both local community members and tourists and is caused by both locals and foreigners. He added, “Many vehicles violate the rules, such as not wearing helmets, not having license plates, and violating other traffic, and escape the attention of the officer.”

A statement read out from the Pecalang of Kuta Traditional Village appealed for more support across the board, but especially in relation to traffic violations in the area. The statement read, “We ask for firm action, both from foreign tourists, local residents, and immigrants.”

After hearing the insights and feedback from all stakeholders, Police Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Simatupang expressed his gratitude for the concerns and candor shared by contributors. He noted that the lack of staff at Kuta’s Police Station is due to a recent wave of retirements.

Nevertheless, he ensured that firm action and committed to eradicating criminal organizations and thieves in the Kuta in order to maintain the area as a safe and comfortable tourist destination for tourists.

He concluded, “We will immediately add personnel at the Kuta Police and fill the empty posts,” and noted that residents should not hesitate to call 110 should they need police assistance.

As Kuta works to eliminate crime in the area, it should be noted that Bali, even Kuta, remains a safe and welcoming destination for tourists.

Though crime rates are a concern, reported of crime in the area are still far lower in comparison on many other leading tourism destinations in the world, and most major cities in the world.

Tourists visiting Bali should be mindful of their belongings at all times, and be sure to leave high-value items locked in a safe in their accommodation when they go out for the day.

Tourists should also be considerate of what valuables they have about their person, including walking along sidewalks holding their phones, wearing high-value jewelry, and carrying bags that are easy to swipe or snatch.

Tourists should travel by taxi at night where possible and avoid walking along routes that are dimly lit or where all the shops, restaurants, and cafes are already closed for the night.

In the event that tourists become the victim of a crime in Bali, it is of the utmost importance to report the incident as quickly as possible to Bali Police and local pecalang security so that the right support and response can be put in place.

Bali Traffic Congestions

Bali Police Commit To Improving Traffic Flow On Highly Congested Tourist Travel Route

Bali’s traffic jams have become as synonymous with travel on the island as visiting the province’s most famous temples.

As tourism booms on the island, traffic congestion has become accepted by many as a small price to pay for the opportunity to explore such a beautiful destination.

One of Bali’s most highly congested areas is along one of the most important travel routes used by tourists. Traffic around the Titi Banda Statue in Denpasar, along the Jalan Bypass Road, is so consistently congested that it is impacting the lives of local people and tourists.

The intersection at the Titi Banda Statue on Jalan Bypass Road sits along the route to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and is one of the main intersections leading into Kuta, onwards to Legian and Seminyak, as well as feeding traffic through to Sanur, and onwards to Nusa Dua and Uluwatu respectively.

While Bali’s road network is fundamentally feeling the pressure of a high number of vehicles on the roads, and ultimately, major road infrastructure work needs to be completed, Bali’s transport officials have confirmed that both short-term and long-term solutions are being put into place.

The Head of the Denpasar Transportation Agency, Ketut Sriawan, told reporters that one key reason for the traffic congestion at the Titi Banda Statue Intersection is that the traffic control system, including the use of traffic lights, is not synchronized between the Denpasar System and the Provincial System.

Because the two traffic management systems do not communicate with one another, a bottleneck forms at the Titi Banda Statue Intersection.

Sriawan told reporters that a plan is in place to station Traffic Police and officers from the Bali Transportation Agency at the Titi Banda Statue Intersection to help better manage traffic flow throughout the day and to keep everyone moving at a safe and steady pace.

He shared “The movement of vehicles has also begun to be regulated by the city [authorities] though to the Sekar Sari Intersection.”

He noted that “This is what must be integrated and ensure that the Province’s Area Traffic Control System is functioning properly, meaning that the Denpasar Transportation Agency has placed personnel and at the same time together with the Sanur Traditional Village is controlling parking in Sanur so that there is no congestion from the south.”

Sriawan explained “For example, at the Waribang intersection, if the light is green then at the Hangtuah Intersection is much also be green so that the vehicles can flow south. But this is why there is congestion at peak hours.”

As these new traffic flow solutions come into effect, tourists in Bali must just be mindful of extra time to travel from A to B, especially when traveling to Bali Airport to catch a flight. It is always advisable to add an extra 30 minutes to the projected travel time when returning to the airport, no matter the time of day.

Sriawan also confirmed that he and his teams are clamping down on illegally parked vehicles along the roads leading to the Titi Banda Statue Intersection. Illegally parked vehicles not only cause congestion but pose a risk to road safety as drivers must navigate around the stationary vehicles, often without a clear view of what is coming ahead.

Tourists on Bali are advised that traffic officials around the island are taking part in an operation to crack down on illegal parking in top tourism resort areas, including motorcycle drivers. Tourists must ensure that they park their rented motorcycles in set parking bays or in recognized parking lots, or else they run the risk of being fined.

Bali Police are also on a mission to crack down on motorcycle drivers who are driving illegally, including foreigners.

Over the weekend, Bali Police pulled over hundreds of drivers in the Canggu area and issued dozens of tickets and fines to those found to be breaking the law.

The most common violations included not wearing a helmet, driving without a license or the correct paperwork, and driving an illegally modified vehicle.

Bali Weather Forecast for June 2025

Low Rainfall Forecast For Bali In June Deemed Good News For High Season Travelers

Tourists planning vacations in Bali are in luck! Weather forecasters examining the long-term projections of weather movements over the province have confirmed that June is on track to see lower-than-usual rainfall, meaning it’s time for holidaymakers to have some serious fun in the sun.

The dry season has officially started in Bali. As the island retains its monsoon-soaked greenery, blooming, drier days and brighter skies are certainly welcomed by local communities and tourists.

The monsoon season of November 2024 through to the end of April 2025 was one of the most devastating in recent history.

Flash flooding, fallen trees, landslides, and storms claimed the lives of dozens of people, damaged hundreds of buildings, and ruined many well-planned vacation days.

The Bali Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency predicts that rainfall in June will be relatively low, meaning sunnier and drier days are ahead as the high seasons get fully underway in Bali.

The Head of the Denpasar Geophysics Station, Rully Oktavia Hermawan, told reporters, “The nature of the rain in June in Bali is predicted to be generally normal.”

Rainfall in Bali’s most popular tourism areas, including Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Kintamani, Nusa Penida, and Kuta, is forecast to be below 100mm in June, with most areas seeing only 21-55mm over the course of the full month.

Nevertheless, tourists visiting Bali at any time of year are always advised to keep an eye on the weather and wave forecasts. As an island, the wave and ocean forecast, published by the Bali Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, is incredibly important.

Tourists visiting Bali’s beaches, or planning to take trips to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, or day trips to go snorkeling or diving, should always check the wave forecast before setting out for the day. Even in the dry season, high weather warnings are often issued across Bali Province.

Tourists planning visits to Bali in June, July, and August certainly don’t need to have a Plan B on standby as a precaution for bad weather. It looks like it will be nothing but sunshine on the Island of the Gods.

In fact, in comparison to only a few short weeks ago, with temperatures rising, tourists heading to Bali should now be focusing on sun safety and how to plan their travel days with periods of time out of the sun, in the cool of the shade where possible.

May and June are arguably some of the best months of the year to be in Bali. The dry season is finally in full swing, the temperatures are perfect, not too hot and by no means cold, and the high seas crowds are yet to arrive en masse.

There is a relaxed atmosphere around the island, and top attractions are easily accessed without long queues or too much traffic congestion.

This is an excellent time of year to explore Bali’s natural landscapes and ocean activities. From snorkeling to hiking, cycling to ATV riding, there is much adventure to be had in Bali in May and June.

One of the best activities to enjoy in the sunshine in Bali, besides kicking back at the beach, is visiting one of the island’s rice terraces.

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, in Tabanan Regency, is one of the most culturally significant landscapes on the island. For tourists, exploring the working rice paddies is always an eye-opening experience.

The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and make for a great day trip from resorts like Canggu and Seminyak.

To make the most of a sunny day trip in Tabanan Regency, tourists should explore both Jatilwuih Rice Terraces and time a visit to Tanah Lot Temple for sunset.
